Summer School for Myology Paris-Berlin

The Paris Myology Summer School, organized by the Institute of Myology, Paris, is an academic center for getting trained in clinical myology. During the last ten years this has grown to become a highly successful internationally recognized and unique event in the field of clinical myology. The summer school is a nine day event held during the wonderful month of June.

Clinical and basic research scientists in the field of muscle sciences should be familiar with the relevant diseases. However, in order to understand the upcoming tools for gene therapy, the complex methodology to investigate pathogenic mechanisms inside the muscle cells and the sophisticated techniques to generate disease models teaching in muscle sciences needs to reach beyond clinical myology.

MyoGrad has been established between the Institut de Myologie in Paris and the Freie Universität in Berlin as the first Research Training Group for Myology.

In MyoGrad the Summer School is expanded:

Part I: Basic muscle sciences in Berlin, each year in June
Part II: Clinical myology in Paris, each year in June (after the Berlin meeting)

The two parts have been closely coordinated and complement each other. MyoGrad students, interested graduate students from other programs, medical students, postdocs and clinicians are among the addressees of the Summer School for Myology Paris-Berlin.

Part I: Muscle Science Summer School, June 2012 in Berlin

The Muscle Science Summer School in Berlin will cover the whole field of basic muscle research. Some of the world most highly recognized experts in their respective fields will give lectures on muscle contraction, muscle development, muscle metabolism, signaling pathways and novel experimental treatment strategies.
